going to change the rear diff fluid and want to know if i need a gasket or rtv?since everthing on these new trucks are o-ringed,im leanning twards rtv.

Theres this rtv out on the market now called "Right-stuff" I know for sure you can get it at Oreilys auto parts, but it comes in a black can with a plastic nozzle, we use it all the time for pan gaskets, intakes, thermostat housings, diff covers, hell even one of the guys I work with used it to reattach the soul on his boot to get him through the day, 2 weeks later still holding strong. It's bad **** man, they claim it'll fill a 1/4" gap on any gasket surface.... I believe it!
Just something you might wanna check out now that I have just "Billy Mays-ed" their product lol

 

why not just use the drain plug?

RTV around the inner and outer bolt holes.

 

I've always used gaskets. Never had one leak.

 

Ive always uses permatex black or hi temp copper.
Right now its the hitemp copper colored stuff.
