Actually as previously stated, it's a derivative of a 3/4 ton Suburban. Wheelbase and overhangs have been shortened. It's worth noting that in any case the H2 is actually quite good offroad.

Hummer isn't even required to publish its fuel economy (owners indicate that they get around 10 mpg for normal use). So while our brothers and sisters are off in the Middle East risking their lives to secure America's fossil fuel future, H2 drivers are pissing away our "spoils of victory" during each trip to the grocery store.
They're making this number up. Or they're calculating it based on short-trip city driving. 2500HDs with the 8.1L often do better than that, and they're heavier.

The H2 is a polluter. Based on G.M.'s optimistic claim that it gets13 mpg, an H2 will produce 3.4 metric tons of carbon emissions in a typical year, nearly double that of G.M.'s Chevrolet Malibu sedan.
Carbon emissions? I take it they mean carbon dioxide emissions given that this figure is being calculated as a function of mileage? That's correctly referred to as a greenhouse gas, not a pollutant (otherwise we should start deforesting the Earth quickly to save the planet!) Real smog-forming particulate emissions, i.e., CO and NOx are quite low from any LS1 derivative, lower than economy cars manufactured less than a decade ago.

The H2 is a death machine. You'd better hope that you don't collide with an H2 in your economy car. You can kiss your *** goodbye thanks to the H2's massive weight and raised bumpers. Too bad you couldn't afford an urban assault vehicle of your own. Or could you...?
Somewhat correct...and a reason I dislike small cars. There are substantially less compatible vehicles on the road today in substantially greater numbers, i.e., medium to heavy duty trucks. (NOTE, 2500HD/3500 trucks are still *light duty* trucks in this context). Economy cars have always been at the bottom end of the food chain when it comes to survivability, and pulling every H2 off the road isn't going to change these statistics by 0.01%

The H2 is a tax loophole. Under the current tax laws, business owners can deduct nearly half the cost of their H2s. If you are in the highest tax bracket, that's a tax savings of nearly $10,000! The government rewards you more savings for buying an H2 than you'd get for buying an electric car.
This loophole has been closed. But oh, was it fantastic when it did exist. I've used it twice and probably saved about $15,000 in taxes. I agree it should not have existed, but tax avoidance (not evasion) is perfectly legal and recommended for everyone.

PS, I'm not an H2 fan, I dislike the look and the soccer mom stereotype. If I wanted a vehicle to fit that description, I'd rather have a lifted Tahoe. The only redeeming qualities of an H2 in my opinion are that it is very capable offroad and it really pisses off these types of folks. Bear in mind, pissing off these folks isn't actually harming them....it's more of a symbiant relationship....these types of people simply *need* something to be angry about to enjoy their lives.

Personally, I can't stand the H2. The thing is an ugly box on wheels. It's a fullsize SUV with the interior space of a midsize sedan. They have no rear seat leg room or head room and the cargo area is smaller than my wife's Trailblazer. A friend of mine has the SUT and he gets 8-10 MPG. For the money I'd rather pimp a Suburban and have a more practical truck. Also, 26" rims on a H2 doesn't make you cool. Let the trendy folks and soccer moms keep their H2's. Now if you want to talk H1, I'm game.

Thanks...actually just realized I screwed up though......deforestation would only create more CO2....given that plants turn it into O2, not the other way around (duh). We actually need to kill all the *animals* to save the environment, not destroy the forests.

H2s suck, they're way too big to go on any trail around here, have very little cargo space for their size, are SLOW, and I've never actually seen one used offroad, and I'm sure everyones seen that video of a stock H@ snapping a tie rod on a mild trail. The H1 is huge as well, but at least it has off road capibility.

Again I don't like 'em either....but I do like the basic design if they'd just put a Tahoe or "Silverado-style" pickup body on it

Abrupt applications of throttle with wheels cranked in a rockgarden will snap tierods. That trail wasn't too bad, but that section needed to be navigated much more carefully than that person did. H2 tierods are stronger than our 1/2 ton tierods I believe (though they of course also carry more weight).

If H2s are any wider than our trucks,it's not by much....i.e., something like an inch or two.
