its interesting as time marches on. 10-15yrs ago, when I got my first Ranger (94 4.0 2wd back in 08), seemed like 16" was "long" for them when keeping HVAC and most of the bed. That truck was 18" front, 12" rear. It was a **** *** build. I bought it like that, and with this truck I plan to do it right the first time and avoid all the lessons I learned on the 2wd
Nowadays, 16" is considered short lmao. Im shooting for 16" on my new 94 4.0, but my limit this time is keeping 4x4, hvac and clearing 35s.
If you air down real low and measure tire sidewall flex you can add that to the overall suspension travel and boost your numbers. Kinda like measuring from behind your nads if you know what I mean.

That being said, if you ain't got 20"+ all around you ain't **** these days.
Speaking of keeping 4wd and long travel... recently the Trophy Truck game has started to use portal gears allowing the axles to stay tucked higher and still put power to the fronts. Big money, but when your'e building a $500k truck its drops in the pond.
who's the traitor that stopped building decent stick-shift trucks?
some men just know when to hold em' & when to fold 'em... and i held 'em for as long as i could.

dude, remember back in the day when TruckTrend or one of those groups built a raptor killer out of an equivalent ecoboost & and an off-the-shelf fox suspension for like $10-15k cheaper?

i thought that was only the black trucks
The big part of having a Raptor killer is telling the dude that owns it you spend half the money he has. And you have way better **** than he does. I love that.
Jumping the old 94, circa 2011. Sup with that front droop, but not rear
Whoop scissors FTW!

Technically everybody quit now except the empire of Japan who still punishes us for nuking them with catastrophically bad manual transmissions and no V8s for $40,000!!!!!!!!!!

I honestly think if Ford named the raptor something else less catchy and cool it wouldn't have been such a hit. Much like how GM failed so badly with the Reaper and the Exorcist, of course the Reaper looked like foot which didn't help.
nothing too crazy... just a 36" turn-down to move the open 4" pipe from under the back seat to exit before the axle. maybe a 45° tilt to 'bounce' it out the passenger side.
yes, i know it's a stack... but it looks like it fits
I think I qualify for this group? Trucks been under the knife all year getting a complete new suspension and rebuilding hubs and just general fixing broken stuff. Should be wheeling in the next month or two though.
