Oh how I hate the sound of flow master 40s on something gutless. Even worse if it's an automatic slush box and you can hear it hang on every shift.

haha, so true!

on another slightly-related note (because that's how all these discussions go...) :
i'm debating swapping my muffler for a turn-down on the new beast. right now, it looks like it should tuck up under everything just fine without hanging low enough to get hit on stuff driving trails... but how much dirtier will it make stuff by pointing the dump at the ground underneath the truck?

i ain't had dumps in 10yrs, and even then, they weren't turn-downs, so i honestly ain't sure/can't remember.

nothing too crazy... just a 36" turn-down to move the open 4" pipe from under the back seat to exit before the axle. maybe a 45° tilt to 'bounce' it out the passenger side.

yes, i know it's a stack... but it looks like it fits

So right now it doesn't have a tailpipe over the axle and outback? What exhaust kit does it have Sawzaw?

I would be kinda worried about the dirtiness The old diesel Benz I had that was straight piped with a turn-down and if you let it idle in one spot for more than a few seconds it would stain the ground. During snow season it would completely soil snowdrifts. Sometimes at lights, it would waft up to the front windows and make you think you were on fire.

haha, yeah. this one don't really roll coal. the tune's a pretty clean burn.
it had a full-up MBRP 4" exhaust ran out the back, but i temporarily dropped the muffler out just to see what it sounds like because it's cadillac smooth/quiet... so right now it's just open pipe under the back seat.

They are. Some of the ground around here has a lot of clay. They have proven themselves at other times.
