Hey everybody. I've searched and found some info, but having a hard time parsing thru trying to figure out whats real and whats BS. Have an '07 Yukon 1500, 2wd. Looking to swap the rear to a 14 bolt. From what I'm reading, GMT900 Escalades and some other SUV's (maybe even Avelanches?) MIGHT have a compatible rear? Ideally, I'm looking for something thats almost a bolt in. I don't mind if I need to get the driveshaft shortened, but I don't want to have to customize the axle if I don't have to. And would prefer to keep my brakes as well to keep correct btake bias. Can anybody help point me towards correct compatibility info please? Thanks!

And my brakes will bolt to that axle without issues? What about parking brake cables?

 

should be fine, its the same generation truck. Same chassis and suspension and transmission (in the case of 6.2 or 09+ 5.3)

 

Well, this ones been swapped to a built 4l80 (after a couple exploded 4l60's). Hopefully we won't need to shorten the expensive driveshaft lol. Thanks!

 

SHouldn't need a drive shaft just a conversion U joint which will probably fail since they are hollow. If your truck currently has a 10bolt rear axle you may need to take the brake baking plate off the old axle and put it on the new axle or else the rotor won't fit over it. AT least that's what I had to do but I also had a 2004 truck and you have a 2007 so you might be good to go.

If you do have to switch them its kinda a PITA because you have to pull the Clips and axle shafts of both axles. It's not rocket science but it can be annoying.

 

Well, I'm getting a used axle, so it's gonna come apart and get a good inspection anyways before it goes in. Might do new axle seals and/or bearings while there. I'm a big believer in a\ pound of prevention etc.
