I got it mainly as a temporary setup as i have a legit air management system with tank and compressors ill be running soon, but honesty this ones been working flawlessly that doesn't motivate me to have to upgraded sooner.
Been running this little inexpensive concoction for a while now. Its worked great for me, never any issues, and gauge setup is simple.
that setup was on my sons truck when we bought it, i dont now long it was on it before he got it but it never worked right so my son pulled it out and trashed it glade you have better luck
this is what i got together right now, pump was the only resent purchase, got the bags a while ago from a garage sale new and the gauge/switch panel been sitting around for a while since i had my bagged 95 gmc back about 5 years ago. im not sure if im going to hackup one of the brackets from one of the two kits i have or fab something up? i need some push fittings going to order some so hopefully this will all be on before Christmas
really not liking the gauge panel but for now ill be using it till i figure out something nicer
I run the airlift kit without the compressor, just a schrader valve with both bags Teed together. I usually have one of those battery jump box compressor combo things in the truck so I just use that to add air when needed. Ill measure the rear height before the load then add enough air to bring it back up to there with the load on it. With about an 8000lb car hauler I only need 30-40psi to bring it back up.
yeah i ran my last set of bags like that and was a pain some time i didnt have enough air some times had to much air and pull over to adjust them so i just want to have in cab controls on this truck, trying to setup something that is problem free or at least no problems for a while and have on board air for the unplanned loads or towing witch happens a lot with me lol
so this has been time consuming trying to get every thing to work together but im somewhat on track now
so a call to Arnott to find out what size air tube the pump takes (its smaller then the 1/4" the airlift & ride rite uses) was told its 4mm (same as 5/32) so made a order at Mcmaster Carr for tube, some fitting and made sure i got 1/4" to 5/32 reducers ran over and picked up every thing to find out the Arnott pump does not take the 4mm i was told WTF.... after looking online i find out its 3/16" tube so made another order returned the wrong parts picked up the correct parts every thing fits as it should now
the double bellow bags i had on hand are to big diameter at 7" makes it pretty tight between the frame and tire cant use them, found a place just across the state line in Indiana sells air springs and mounts really cheap lucky for me its 5 minutes from my son that lives with my Ex so i had him grab me bags and mounts (upper and lower) there bags are knock off Dominator D2500 double bellow bags 6" diameter for $52 and mounts $33 figured why not even though the lower mounts are for over the axle the top mounts save me time from hacking brackets up one of the kits, after getting everything in my hands the brackets have to be used as installed in the pic below when you turn them 180* and install them they rub on the bags witch sucks since that's how i was planing on using them and now if i need to install them like that i need to widen them at least an inch
i added a micro momentary switch to the gauge panel to keep it simple
not sure witch air springs im going to use, im going to try and use the double bellow so i can sell of the airlift kit if not the ones from the airlift kit will be installed lower brackets are from airlift kit
