Default 4wd conversion

I am interested in converting my 2wd 2000 1500 silverado to 4wd. I was planning on buying a salvaged truck and swapping the stock suspension and steering parts from that along with the 4wd auto transmission and the transfer case that has manual actuation into my truck. However I was wondering if there were any sensors/electrical connections on the 4wd transmission that would be different from the 2wd version.

I know it probably would be easier to just buy a 4wd truck but mine is in good shape and I could get a decent salvaged truck with all the parts I need for alot less.

The only thing i can think of since yours is a manual case is the sensor that tells the front diff to lock in but that should be on the shifter assembly..

Im also not sure how the hole in the floor is going to work out either..I havent been around to many floor shift silvys..

I thought the frames were different between 2wd 4wd trucks these days?

I'm pretty sure they're the same except for a few mounts which can be added.

OP: if you're going to go through all the trouble of converting your truck to 4wd I would just go ahead and do an SAS instead of completely replacing the IFS and adding torsion bars and whatnot. In the long run it's going to be about the same amount of work

Its actually where the cubby hole/traction control button is to the left of the cluster, so that shouldnt be an issue to pick one up.

As far as the frames, they are different. They (4x4's) have the torsion bar front suspension without coils.
How hard it would be with a good welder and some skills to change that..... I dont know

Frames are completely different from 2wd to 4wd until you get up into the NNBS trucks..

This swap will not work unless you change frames
