Cool thread. I've got a 99 NBS ECSB. I bought a 9.5" 2KXX axle and regeared it from 3.42 to 4.10. This thread is motivating me to try to swap it. I hope I can do it with a bit of cutting and welding.

My truck did get swapped to a 4L80e, but I don't remember what the yoke that I used. It came from Denny's driveshaft. The driveshaft itself was not shortened, as the center bearing carrier crossmember has slots that allow the adjustment.

That axle is out of the 2014+ trucks right? 12 bolt cover? What is the width?

Yes. 12 bolt cover. I think they are calling it the "12 bolt?" Obviously, not the same 12 bolt from the 70s. It seems to be like the AXN, but I don't know enough about any of them honestly.

I believe when I measured the WMS it was like 1/2 or 1" wider compared to the WMS of the GMT 800. I actually compared it a 14 bolt 10.5" disc that came from a gmt800 2500HD I had laying around. I assumed it's the same as the 10 bolt?

I have the 12 bolt in my garage, but haven't put back the axles. I have the 16" factory rims on my truck and I confirmed they won't clear on the 12 bolt, so I'll need something larger.

My factory 10 bolt measured 69.5" wms to wms. Which I think is 1" wider then gmt800 trucks. So your 12 bolt 9.5 might be same width as gmt 900 trucks.

All tabs welded up. Painting in progress. Got the idea for standing it up from another thread. Its soon to be under the truck permanently....... I hope.

I tried using the silverado 2500 backing plate, because I dont have any rear wheel speed sensors on this truck. The silverado backing plates don't have that provision. I could have carved out the center. figured it was easier to just block off the abs sensor hole instead.

Hummer h2 backing plate on h2 anchor.

Silverado 2500 backing plate wont fit the h2 anchor. The center bore is too small.

First impressions of the work.... Brake pedal travel sucks. I hope Hydroboost helps. The only solution i know. I swapped in the bigger 1.25" master and its not enough. I think thats the biggest master that is vacum boosted and bolts in? The gearing change is awesome!! Truck came alive. 3.73s and 35s suck!!! Also need a longer passenger side e brake cable.

I changed compression valving and went to a heavier spring in the front. The truck ran out of travel early before.

So need some tweaks before dialed.
