Well at the dealership I work at we drop the tank. But we have racks to its not a pain, IMO if you dont have one it would be easier to take the bed off. Just my .02. If your dropin you will need a small screw driver or a 5/16 socket and wrachet for the fuel hoses, 13mm for the evap box (the one infront of the tank) 15mm for the straps, a punch or flat head screw driver and hammer for the ring around the pump. Also if you need to but you shouldnt a 7/16 for the drive shaft.

If you go to T Byrne's website, you can download the install instructions for the Radix supercharger. They have some pretty good pictures and explainations for dropping the tank to replace the fuel pump. You might also be able to get the same thing off Magnuson's site. I just did the install this weekend. Ride around until the low fuel light comes on. After you take the fuel pump module out of the tank, dump the remaining gas into a bucket, and clean the sealing surfaces under the lock ring real good. Clean, but don't stretch the rubber o ring, and grease the o ring with silicone grease to help it seal. The fuel lines release by squeezing the tabs on the sides, and gently pulling up to release them. You really don't need tools, just you fingers.

Drop the tank, it's easier, you don't have to worry about pinching fuel lines when you put the bed back on. I personally know of one person who screwed up big time by taking the bed off. He needed 3 extra people to lift the bed off and when they put the bed back on, it wasn't lined up right and pinched a fuel line unknowingly, of course. Had everything bolted back together, fired up the truck, and had a leak. Had to wait 9, count 'em, 9 days for the dealer to get the part in. No junk yard or pick-a-parts had 'em. Also you will need fuel line disconnect tools to take the lines off. I got 'em if you need 'em. Just let me know and I'll help you if I'm free. Didn't take me but 2 hours to change mine w/ 1 person helping...Zed

I've found it much easier to pull the bed, especially sonce pumps only die with a full tank.
I've done the one in my yukon 3 times (gave me the pump for an xl instead of the standard one, then a K2500 instead of 1500. ******* couldnt read). I was so pissed after dropping the tank 3 times I wanted to torch it.
On my trucks I've just yanked the bed bolts, filler neck screws, and tail-light harness and slid the bed back 2'. Dont need to take it all the way off, and I can get it pushed around without help.
