I understand your position Zeake, If I was opening a shop to support myself I wouldn't be looking at this stuff.

I'm a DIY guy that likes to work on my own stuff, I don't expect this stuff to be at the level of the original/OEM but then again if I had to spend $4000 for one I would stick with the PC software I have now.

It's a balance between want and money for me,

Neal

I stumbled across a site/business that sells the complete tool along with the case for a good price , 1 year warranty along with servicing and tech support. I sent them a couple questions to see how they respond to get an idea of their customer support.

Thanks Neal
Good Luck Neal, hopefully everything goes well. If you find out any information about the TIS2000 stuff and care to share, my PM Inbox is always open

No, I'm still researching them as to which one to get.

After looking at them a little closer some do not work with the GM truck platform so be careful if you order one, make sure it will work with trucks.

So I finally pulled the trigger and purchased one of these tools,

I just received it today and have spent about 10 minutes messing with it, keep in mind I have never seen one of these in action nor have I ever put my hands on one so this will be a learning experience for me.

I went ahead an purchased the TIS2000 software and dongle to unlock it along with the tool, the software and dongle added $12 to the purchase.

I've been watching videos online to try and learn how to use this scanner but once in my hand there a lot of options to work through.

I've plugged it into my 96 K1500 that I updated to the 0411 computer and it would not connect when I input my truck info but when I input the info of the van that the computer and tune is from it connected and started showing data right away.

More to come as I learn,

Neal

I am a GM master tech and have used the tech 2 for 19 years. It is a very useful tool, however Autel sells a global scan tool for 600-1000 on eBay that does everything the tech 2 can do plus all other makes from 1996 on.The tech 2 will not be able to do reflashes without a global login or a special GM lease for the info. You can use both scantools to look at data, perform crank relearn, and tons of other stuff. I have both and if I had to choose one ,I would pick the Autel because it will work on tons of stuff. If you have any questions please feel to PM me.
