There's the Alpine Type R 6.5" with crossover and tweeter for only 250, or 150 online. I'm going to run those off the stock deck.

Don't buy anything to run off the stock deck. Save up and get a decent head unit with a 4-channel amp, at least a 50x4. That's what I would do...

The stock head unit doesn't put out very many watts at all, and if you want to play it loud and sound nice, it's not gonna happen even with good speakers. I would suggest looking into the Kicker ZX series amps for your highs. They make pretty solid amps that push the RMS power and sound pretty nice doing it. Look into Zapco or Autotek if you have the extra cash. JL ones are nice, but over priced imo. You can find a nice kicker or JBL 4-channel on ebay for pretty cheap. Just look to find one with a warranty if possible.

Problem is how the stock decks are used in connection with OnStar, don't they store the turn by turn directions in the deck to be read off as you drive? Or like on my moms Impala where the deck is used to change settings such as the oil life meter, reset the TPMS, autolock, key fob settings, etc.

But I do agree, going from a stock deck to a Alpine in my DD Integra I used to have made a world of a difference even with stock speakers.

I'm not 100% sure with OnStar, since mine didn't come with it. I do believe that PAC or whatever that company is makes an adapter for the bose units where you can integrate them into an aftermarket head unit. I'm not 100% sure, but ask your local reputable audio shop or check at www.the12volt.com

They should be able to tell you.

***EDIT***

Just found this on ebay, but haven't had any experience with it.

I'm running a Pioneer CD deck ( DEH-1500 ) 50Wx4 with Sony X-Plod replacement spkrs front and rear. None of this stuff was high-end but it sounds better than stock.
