WARNING when changing steering intermediate shaft! PS Help me

Default WARNING when changing steering intermediate shaft! PS Help me

just a word of warning if you are changing your intermediate shaft on your gm RESEST the urge to spin your steering wheel while there is no shaft connected to it, i screwed something up it willl seem to freewheel for awile then hit a stopper of some sort, then spin the opposit way and hit a stopped i realized thi was bad so i counted the turns divided it by two then bolted her back up guessing that for center only to notice a few days later that if my computer detected that it was dark out and turned on the lamps, none of my steeringwheel buttons or lights work, but when its daylight out and there are no lamps on the buttons work fine (still no light), any ideas of whats in there that a guy could check or how they work, please help and, DONT DO THIS! lol

Airbag clock spring is fucked up now. Bend over real far and grab your ankles when purchasing a new one. they are not cheap but it's a hard lesson learned. Theres a reason there is a tag on the half shaft that says SIR system damage may occur if shaft is separated.

I thought everyone knew not to do that.

Like said your clock spring is now junk.

Yep clock spring for sure. You're just. Lucky that the buttons at least work at all. I've seen em go on ebay for 125 or so.

Wow. I also thought everyone knew not to do this...

I have changed three of these. I make sure to blue tape the **** out of a board in between the top opening of the steering wheel and to the steering column to prevent such an occurrence.
