I am looking at the Viper remote starters 160XV and 160XVL.
The XV is a current model and is a 1/4 mile range rated unit.
The XVL is no longer listed on their site and is a 1 mile range rated unit. The XVL is still easy to find on the market.
I'm looking for feedback experiences on thses two units. Curious as to why they backed off on the range.

Well I got the 160XV and had it set up for no valet button or disable switch. Not needed when no security is used. No starter disable and all that. Just a remote start with keyless entry.
At 250 yards it worked this AM from my work building entrance. That is much further than I'll be using it. At 150 yards down my street with heavy tree cover and the truck not visible it worked.
If I want to get out and leave it running I press the starter button while running and pull the keys out and go.
I have the door locks independant of the system. The Viper fobs retired the OE fobs.
There are all kinds of combinations the installer can configure. Horn chirp and the like. Both doors unlock with one press or drivers on the first and passenger on the second.
The lowest cost unit Viper the Fobs only have one button for locks and are almost half the size of the OE fobs.
I'm happy so far.
