Default sub ohm output

hey everyone, Im running two p2s with a crappy explode 1200 (supposed) watts amp with an alpine deck currently. I had it installed when I was short on time and Im not sure how its wired up, but Im pretty sure they are DVC 2ohm subs, I ordered a kenwood mono 1000 watt amp since I got a good deal on it. I really have never gotten any good bass out of the system and I tried my brothers infinity amp and it was the same about a year ago or so, so Im not sure how its wired up,

anyways will it put more wear and tear on the system if I run it at a lower ohm? (to make it a little louder if Im thinking right) thanks in advance

The lower the load generally the more distortion(unless you go super low it's usually not too noticeable). WIth 2 ohm DVC subs I believe you can either wire them up at 2 ohms or .5 ohms. You can also go up to 8 I believe, but your best bet is to run them at a 2 ohm load.

I really just want good clean bass, and be able to feel it, my buddy is running the same subs/ bob with an audiobahn amp and it can hit pretty good for two cheap fosgates, mines kind of disappointing, but Im also pretty lazy since I havent opened up the box to take a lookm so 2ohms will sound the best? or is that the safest route?

you can either get a .5 Ohm load, 2 Ohm load, or 8 Ohm load

i recommend the 2 Ohm load just because i doubt you have an amp that's .5 Ohm stable...so heres how you run it

Sub A: neg of VC1 to pos of VC2
pos of VC1 to pos of VC1 on Sub B
neg of VC2 to neg of VC2 on Sub B
Sub A: neg of VC1 to pos of VC2
pos of VC1 (w/ pos of Sub A VC1) to Amp
neg of VC2 (w/ neg of Sub A VC2) to Amp

if that confuses you like i think it will just go here:

your amp is 2 Ohm stable which means if you ran it at .5 Ohms you run the risk of blowing a sub or the amp or something else you can run it at whatever Ohms you like but i highly recommend 2 or 8....the difference is that the lower the # of Ohms the more efficient your amp is running (as long as it can handle that Ohm load)

Ohms is the load placed on the amp. The lower the ohm the more the load just like and engine. The more throttle you give it the more load you put on it. So if you have an amp that is 2 ohm stable, that means that is where that amp will put out the most power. If you run this same amp at 8 ohms, you will barely be placing a load on it, thus barely using the amps power. The best way to do this, is to match your subs to your amp. This means get a set of subs that you know you can wire at a certain ohm load, 2 ohm in this case. Then find an amp that is in the power range and load stable for this load. Most of your bigger audio sites will have a wiring diagram on how to wire your subs to get different loads. Use this information and make those things pound!! lol You also have to figure in box space and configuration when you talk about how loud they are. A ported box with the right specs will sound much better than a sealed box. Just giving ya some basic info to help ya out. Sorry for the long post.

Thanks for all the help, I finally had time to rewire my amp and take the box apart to see how the installer hooked it up, well I paid and have a receipt for DVC 2ohms, but since I was underway when it was installed I got jipped, the subs are SVC 4ohm so it looks like Im stuck with those for a while. the subs sound descent but not great, anyways thanks for all of the help guys
