Sub and amp placement in 99 RCSB silverado
#1
My buddy has a 99 silverado regurlar cab short box and wants to put a 10w3 jl sub and 250/1 amp but we wonder how everyone else placed theres? Which way did you face the sub and how did you mount the box in the cab? Also where did you mount the amp? Pics of other setups would be appreciated.

put in a "wedge box" behind the seat. port it if possible. either port up or on the side (bottom of the side) facing a cab side wall. counter sink the sub and put a good grill on it so it won't be hitting on the seat. put the amp under the seat. if you want to get custom, do something flush on the back wall. 1 10, you won't be using all the space back there. everyone has their bass likings, and what could be enough at first, might lead to needing more later. so if you do use the back wall for the amp, you might have to redo it all later if he decides to put 2 subs back there. you can get lot's of pics of people's set ups if you go over to "fullsizechevy.com" to get ideas.

The amp can sually go under the seat if you position it towards the very back of the seat and it's a typical 200-300w small chassied amp.
Personally I don't see the need for a 250/1. It's a pricely little amp for what it does. There are other JL models that will put out just as much power cleanly and you can save a few bucks. Look at the e1200 or e1400D

I have to 12" kicker comp VRs with a kicker 800.2 amp the box is custom made were the center console is functional up/down. The air space for each sub is more than 1.75 cubic sq ft. My amp is mounted under the passenger seat i have manual seats the only thing you must remove is the black plastic cover and bracket that holds a connecter for the air bags detction if equipped. let me tell i have recieved many compliments on how HARD it hitssss some people think i have the bed and cab cut out and the box inside the bed and mi answer is NO NO NO.. all behind the seat its all possible if you have time and patience.... only thing sacrificed is some inches of leg room. but for me no problemmo......

I have Two Q logic boxes ported, with two JL 10w1's in it. They fit behind the seat. They are only two months old, and for sale. $150 for them both. I took them out, only because I need the leg room. I am 6'6. The subs sound really good.
