Default Steering Wheel Radio Controls?

I have a 2005 GMC Sierra with the factory bose stereo and steering wheel controls. When I push the prog button to scan through the preset stations sometimes it skips over a preset or a couple of them. I have no idea why and the button doesn't seem to stick down?
Also are there any aftermarket head units that would work with the steering wheel controls if I wanted to upgrade?

There are a few of them that can work there is a SWI-X that's works just about with any radio out there.

The skipping that you are having is a common problem that GM radio have buy try pressing the different buttons that control local stations.

Alpine works with them. And IMHO they make the best head unit out there. You just need to buy a module for it; runs about $100, but they also have to program it, so some labor for that. But I enjoy having that stuff at my fingertips...makes me keep my hands on the wheel.
