Default Special Fasteners for Stereo

I'm going to be installing a new HU next week and was wondering where i coudl find different fasteners...i dont wanna reuse the hex bolts in there and wanna stay away from phillips and straight head screws...where can I find some different ones..something that would make it difficult for someone to just go in there and take it out?

try a hardware store like lowes or home depot, they make a screw that has to have a special tool to remove them, i know they are used on bathroom stalls, but that would be the place to look

Check out parts-express.com, I bought bought some screws from them called security screws. You have to have a special tool for them.

Something to keep in mind, if a thief is in your truck and has the trim plate off ready to take your stereo and when he encounters these bolts he is bound to pry and pull to get the radio out, likely destroying both the radio and dash in the process.

http://www.hudsonfasteners.com/security.htm ....

But like stlsy says, let the theif have it.... It's safer for your car, and it's not going to stop them or slow a decent one enough. Chances are as well, if it's a head unit worth stealing, it will have a removable faceplate, or some other security feature.... If it has the removable face plate, just take it with you.

Best advice: don't tell your friends or advertise the fact that you have a new head unit, and you'll be all set. Maybe invest in an alarm too...
