Default screeching and static noise..

ive got a 99 silverado, new body style and i recently put a jvc stereo in it. it all worked fine, then i decided to put a different dash kit in to make it more flush instead of sticking out as far as it did. now when i turn it up a certain amount the speakers start to sound staticky then start to screech real loud. i hooked my factory stereo back up to see if it did the same thing and it does. does anybody know what the reason could be for this?? like a short, blown fuse, or problem with the ground wire..?

sounds like a ground issue or a short. How did you hook up the JVC to the factory wireing? Harness? Did you cut and use electrical tape? (seen that a lot). its definatly not a fuse.

I would just take it out and re-install it from scratch. If the dash kit was the only thing you changed out it must be a loose wire or maybe even an rca grounding out on metal somewhere. I know its a PITA but it only happend AFTER you put the new kit in. Its worth a try. If you do that and it still is sketchy you must have a wire crossed some were. Just make sure all of your color codes are all hooked up correctly. Some colors can be mixed up during bad lighting installs. Definatly worth checking into.
