I have an 05 Silverado and want to add a remote starter with a good reputation a good range.
I may do it myself if there is not too much trouble but I will have to see the kit.
Thanks

go there for your diagrams and really vipers not bad but i no longer use them due to them doing away with the lifetime warranty & now only having a 1 year...Prestige, Crimestopper, Python, & K9 are all reputable alarms

stay away from the new viper 2way ghost face led model No# 5701
i work at a custom audio, RS and alarm shop and every single one of the new slim transmitter Viper units such as the 5701, 5901 and 5601 have all came back for the fact the transmitters are junk.
Now Avital also from DEI very similar to the Viper line from DEI are awesome they have a way better transmitter and we havent had any problems with them
i suggest if you want the 2way with alarm like the old Viper 5900 get the Avital 5303 2way system, if 2way and alarm is not your thing then id go with the Avital 4103 it does Remotestart and keyless entry
at my shop we do the 4103 for around $239.95 installed with tax and labor and then the additional 59.95 for the Interface for the bypass on the theft system/starter kill of the factory stuff so the RS can actually function properly, and we solder it in for a real connection. i figured id give you a price so you have some numbers to go from when your looking, from what were told by DEI we are about average on price, places like best buy and what not arent very reasonable on thier prices for the units and when they are they charge you one price and then when you pick it up nickle and dime you for "additional accessories and hardware"

Thanks, A shop in town still has some viper 5900's and I'll price them out. But all I really want is Remote start w/keyless entry. If the price is close I may get the full meal deal.
Did you like the Viper 5900?
I'll be looking at the Avital's line too.

Looking at a simple Avital Keyless system it will not state the range =
AviStart 4103L 1-Way Remote Start System.
The Viper that looks almost the same says 1/4 mile = Viper 160XV 1-Way Remote Start System562V.
What do you think. Viper OK with this one?

the viper 160xv and the avital 4103 are veryyyy similar in range.
i have the viper 160xvl (1-mile range) on my yukon and i love it.
yes i like the 5900 they are a good system, im pretty upset with Viper for trying to make the 5900 "better" with this new designed transmitter and brain unit and making its replacement a big floppy turd
if they try to talk you into the new 5701 dont let them lol
5900 is the route or the avital, pretty much all the new viper stuff sucked this year same for python and clifford being that they have the same brains and transmitters with different paint and logo's lol
avital is the only line from DEI that didnt get the hose this year on going full retard and messing things up the were actually thinking lol
