do the rearview mirrors with compass/temp have the temp sensor in the mirror or is it elsewhere on the vehicle, my friend is getting rid of his 04 Z71 and I was wanting to swap it with mine that doesn't have compass/temp before he gets rid of it

 

temp sensor is up under the grill, on the driver side I think?

 

It works just by plugging in the plug under your mirror, to the mirror with the gauge.

 

so would the temp work if i put that mirror in my truck that didn't come with one

 

Only if you get the sensor and wiring harness for it.
