Rear view mirror info

Rear view mirror info
My 2003 chevy truck has the rearview mirror that displays temp and direction like N S E and W. The display went out and has come on and went out several times in the last 4 months. A new mirror from GM is almost 300 bucks. All of the other parts of the mirror work except the display. Any help is appreciated...
