Question Oil pressure and fuel gauge problem

I'm getting strange readings on my oil pressure and fuel gauge but a the rest of the gauges are working ok. My oil pressure sometimes pegs out to the max reading and stays there and sometimes stays in the middle of the range but it definitely is not reading the actual engine oil pressure. My fuel gauge is reading with the needle pointing down; it seems to move as the fuel level drops but it's like the needle sweep is upside down (if that makes sense). Do I need a new instrument cluster or what? Has anyone else had this type of problem and what worked to fix the problem?

Yeah my tach, speedo and volt gauge all started acting wierd. I had to have my cluster replaced twice.

How difficult is it to change out the gauge cluster? Are there any links to any sites with a step by step instruction to swap out the instrument panel, upgrade, etc.?

4 screws hold it in place, and the harness justs plugs right into the new one.

Does the front of the dash have to come off to get to the screws and how difficult is that? Also, if I'm going to have to change out the instruments, what would be a good choice for a replacement?

yeah, the front part of the dash comes right off, I just take my thumb and first finger and pry it loose, then it just snaps off. It helps to move the steering wheel all the way down, and pull the shifter down into 1st gear. When you start pulling it off, it becomes self explanitory. As far as replacements, you have a few options, escalade cluster, ss cluster, and I'm sure there are more than that.

odd, mine has just started doing the same thing last week. i disconnected my battery and let it sit for 30 minutes and when i hooked it back up the problem went away. well, at least for a while, my fuel gauge stopped reading correctly soon after.

I just replaced my whole cluster because of the speedo being dead. It takes about 10 minutes and is VERY easy. I replaced my 04 with a 06 SS cluster with the new style gear selector indicator.

Yeah my fuel gauge hasnt worked right sense I got the truck. I thought it might be the sensor in the gas tank but sometimes it registers right and sometimes it doesn't. I've been wanting escy gauges anyways so maybe when the tax return comes in it will be time to do it finally.
