Default Oem non-Bose stereo...power but no sound.

Hopefully we have some "stereo guys" in the forum.

Picked up my Yukon after having a new engine/upgraded SC installed. The stereo turns on--clock works when power off, powers up, changes radio stations--but no sound at all. Checked the fuses:

Interior fuse panel:
- the 10A fuse was good.

Underhood fuse panel:
- The 15-amp RADIO fuse was good.

- The 25-amp RDO AMP fuse was blown. I replaced it with a 25A spare and the fuse popped (visible arc) immediately when inserted.

I'm thinking maybe the sub amp? Any thoughts?

Try un-hooking the speaker output connector from the amp (should be behind the glove box) then try installing the fuse again to see if it blows. If it still blows, it is probably the amp it's self. Otherwise something may have cut into one of the speaker leads causing a direct short.

Did the shop that did your motor/blower install have to wire up anything under the dash?

No wiring. I'll take a look to see if that mounted anything with screws to the firewall...maybe something went through and clipped a wire.

Very good possiblilty. I've seen several aftermarket shops do that. We've seen one where a guy put a 4" sheet metal screw through the center of an ECU on a brand new GS430 about 2 years ago, and he couldn't figure out why it wouldn't start after he wired up the new subs and amp . That was an expensive repair bill

We've also seen where someone else did the same thing, but went right into the center of the wiring harness. That was a pain in the *** to track down too. The shops insurance company oppted to put a completely new harness in instead of having us try to repair it, so that was an expensive repair to
