Im pretty sure u can do it, u just wont have an air bag. I wouldnt worry about it anyway, onlything a steering wheel bag is for for is a broken nose and/or airbag burn on ur forearm(s). But maybe someone has more input

You could ohm the airbag wires and the solder in a reisitor of the proper value to fix the light. You might need a puller to remove the wheel or try backing the nut off and tapping it with a hammer a few times, don't remove the nut all the way just leave it on a few threads and hit the nut then give the wheel a few hard pulls, with the nut still on so it stops and you don't hit yourself with the wheel.

It can be done. I have a billet specialties steering wheel in my truck. I had a friend at a dealership turn my bags off for me so i didn't have it go off in my face while removing the wheel. I would suggest getting a steering wheel puller from a local parts house that way you dont screw up the steering column. The last one i bought cost $15 i think. I have had mine for about 6yrs with no problems so far just don't have any airbags.
I didn't need any special tools. except the a standard wheel puller. i used a small screwdriver to release the tabs holding the airbag in place on the wheel. theres two small openings on each side of the wheel kind of behind where your hand would be if u place them at at 9 o'clock and 3 o'clock. sorry for the weak description but maybe it will help.
