Need help on getting power to trailer lights on the 09
#1
Im trying to get power back to where the trailer plug would be on the rear bumper. I have power to the turn signals, parking lights, etc but not the heavy gauge power wire. I've checked the fuse box and the fuse is in and it is good. Id like to use that to power my air compressor for the train horns.
I called the dealer and it was like talking to a box of rocks. They said they have no idea and do not touch anything to do with hitches/brake controllers/wiring.
I then called a local hitch installer and he said that there maybe a taped up power wire with an eyelet inside the engine bay that just need to be hooked to the battery. Has anyone tried to do this at all? I've quickly tried to find the wire but didnt find anything.

There should be a red wire under the hood laying down under the brake booster.then pop your fuse box cover off and it goes on the smaller stud [the stud may be black in color].it's a m6 nut THAT YOU WILL NEED FOR THE STUD.

I think what Im going to do instead is move my compressor into the engine bay where the 2nd battery would go seeing I can just use that stud to power the compressor. There are two studs under the fuse box cover, one is a 40amp circuit and the 2nd is 30amp. Is that a consent power, or is it switch by ignition?
