Default MPG display in Cluster

Anyone know if a gauge cluster has to be programmed to show average MPG? If so anyone know how it's done?

You have to change out the steering wheel for one with the controls in it, change out the clock spring in the column and have the BCM reprogrammed. I looked into doing it with my 07 classic Duramax. Will cost you around 2-300 to do it all

Oh, that's dumb. Figured it would just be a program. That settles that. Haha
