Default Looking for feedback on this stereo for my 04 escalade

Looking to upgrade my head unit with something made in the last decade that has Bluetooth capability without spending a ton. I found this soundstream head-unit that seems to come with everything I need to install in my 04 escalade with a factory bose system and still have everything work like my steering wheel controls and factory amp. Any feedback would be appreciated, or if there’s better options I’d like to know before wasting my money on something that’s junk if it is. Here’s the link to what I’m looking at

I have a Sony AX1000. Bluetooth, CarPlay, XM. Zero issues with it.

I have always liked my Sony headunits the most. Never had a sound stream and the reviews on it after searching a bit were about 50/50 on wether it’s a piece of crap or works good. I’m gonna talk to one of my buddies who owns a car stereo shop and see if he can hook me up

That’s what swayed me away from them. The reviews.

One has to wonder if it was install error?

I’ve had the AX1000 for almost a year now and have 0 bad things to say for a sub $300 HU.

I personally wouldn't install a soundstream head unit. I put this as the same quality as BOSS, Dual, and planet audio, maybe a hair better, like a JVC but probably not. This is what you buy at Walmart or a truck stop.

Bluetooth is basically a standard feature these days. I would guess 80-90% would have Bluetooth, and you would have to go REALLY cheap or obscure to not find it. That head unit is compatible with your factory stuff because of that little module that they are including with that item. If you get that you can pick pretty much any head unit you want. The only feature I even see on this one is DVD. Are there any other features besides Bluetooth you would like to add?

Not sure if you wanted a cheap double din or actually wanted DVD option, but I would buy that module separate and buy a quality single din and a pocket before I would add that.

Yeah I didn’t know anything about Soundstream, I think when I was in highschool they were supposed to be pretty good but that may have just been kids blowing smoke up my ***. I’m gonna stop by my buddies stereo shop and have him set me up with something decent. Last time I saw him he gave me a really nice alpine head unit for my Honda Insight for like 125 bucks which was just a hair over his cost and cheaper then I could find it online anywhere. I mostly just want a Bluetooth unit because I’ve been stuck with either radio or cds and I’ve been listening to the same sublime cd for like the last year. This one has a backup camera which would be kind of cool since my driveway is fairly narrow and I have tall fences on both sides so it would be nice to help watch out for kids but it’s not a deal breaker.

Just an update, after shopping around I decided it wasn’t worth it to buy a whole new head unit when my factory one works great and has great sound quality. My solution was just to buy a better Bluetooth fm transmitter, the one I had before straight sounded like garbage. More static and feedback then sound. After looking at some reviews I found this “Sumind bt70b” on eBay for like $22 with all great feedback on it, had my doubts but I got it in the mail today and plugged it in. Set the fm frequency, connected my phone and no joke it sounds every bit as good as any cd I’ve ever put in the caddy. Super happy with such a simple solution, thought I would share for anyone else who may want some sort of modern media streaming into an older truck.
