I have a 2003 chevy with the 6 disk changer that quit working. i swapped the radio out with one out of another truck and its locked. i googled how to unlock it but it will not display the codes with anything i try. anyone know a way to unlock it.

 

The radios are VIN coded to each vehicle, you must have the dealer or someone with a Tech 2 unlock it.

TEMPORARY BYPASS INSTRUCTIONS

You can temp bypass this for testing purposes by turning off the truck, then put the key in the ACC position, and pull the
radio fuse for 5 seconds (with the key still in ACC position). Then put the fuse back in and the radio will have full functionality until you
turn the key off or try to start the truck. If you do either of those, the radio will lock up again. Alternatively you can simply unplug the large 24-pin radio connector for 5 seconds instead of pulling the fuse.

A tech2 alone will not work. also need a subscription to tis2web for programming.

 

Well that's shitty news. Looks like I'm buying a new head unit I'm sick of messing with it.

 

Or you can take to dealer and pay $60-90 for programming? Cheaper than a new radio...

 

Most dealers charge $50.00 to unlock a radio, if they hit you up for more, stick it to them.
