Default lights still diming

Ok i got a 2.5 farad cap for christmas and just installed it last weekend. I was hoping by doing this it would stop the diming of the lights and all my gauges when the big bass hit. It took it away for the most part but it still dims when it hits real hard. Im only running 1 10" JLw7 w/ a 500/1 amp so nothing crazy. Is this telling me i need to do the big 3 or what else could be my problem? thanks.

Big 3 wouldn't hurt at all. It might solve your problem.

Caps are bandaids and add another draw to the electrical system....a real solution would be to upgrade the alternator and at least the alt to battery wire. Check your ground wire too, it needs to be the same size as your primary power wire.

i would def. suggest a dry cell battery if you dont have one already. that and a smaller alt. pulley are the only upgrades i have and my lights dont dim.....and i run about 3,000 watts rms.....

Three important wires to upgrade:

Alternator to battery (+)
Battery (-) to chassis ground
Engine block to chassis ground

In my experience big 3 owns caps for improving electrical systems. Cheaper, too. When I upgraded my system I dropped 4 gage over the existing runs. I dimmed, but not terrible - just on the long drawn out notes. Soon I'm going to replace it with 1/0 and hopefully be good.

As thunder said, caps are bandaids - I can not stress that enough!!!

Also grounds are very important as joshua said. Clean the frame, tap a hole, bolt it down.
