Default Interesting issue with new setup

Alright fellow audio listeners. I need some help.

For the past 3-4 years, I've been running the same setup without an issue.

1. Clarion single din cd player
2. Coaxials in the front/rear
3. Amp single 8in sub on the passenger side rear under the seat.

Father's Day, I treated myself to an upgrade.

1. New DD head unit (touchscreen)
2. 6.5 component front/rear
3. Amp for the components
4. Same amp/sub setup from above

Now, the issue.

From the time the radio comes on, there is this whine/hum that I cannot get rid of. In the course of my troubleshooting, I have done the following:

1. Swapped RCA. L to R, F to B and even 2 new sets.
2. Put the original CD player back in, still does it.
3. I verified that my component wires are not exposed/grounding out anywhere.

The fun part....

Without either of my amps ground wires, when I connect the RCAs, the amp will power on. That's right, the RCAs are acting as a ground.

I emailed Richard (Atomic) last night and I have a suggestion from him (THANKS!!).

I do have a homemade big-3 upgrade using 4 gauge cables.

Thanks everyone.

Double check the quality of the amp's ground wire and where it's connected to the vehicle. I see a lot of not so good grounds for amps.

Where and how are the amps mounted? Where are your "big 3" connections?

I put an amp rack in, MDF. They are screwed to that. I pulled my seat out.

Big 3

1. Alt to batt

2. Batt neg to frame

3. Block to frame

(it did this without the above as well)

And the ground for the amp?

Try this as a quick test, use jumper cables and connect them to the battery ground and amp ground wire and see if it stops.

Not sure if he ever got it fixed, but I usually run a ground wire from the crossmemeber behind the radio to the case of the radio itself and that always seems to fix it.

I tried that as well, didn’t work.

I ended up using a set of RCA noise filters that helped a ton. I can faintly hear it sometimes but I really have to be paying attention.
