being that you are in California, there's a place called Speed-O-Tach in Concord that can program the mileage for you, it's real simple and can be in about 15 minutes with no experience, but the mileage swap is the only possible issue.

honestly, i just want to know how fast i'm going. is it possible for me to just install it myself now, and reprogram it later? i just dont see the justification for all of this for a stupid flaw in our GM trucks that have not been recalled

i think i might just sell the cluster for dirt cheap and live life without knowing how fast i'm going.

you can put it in but it will start with 0 miles. it will work fine just your miles will be wrong. take your dash bezel out and theres 4 screws that hold it in. pull it out unplug, plug new one in and put it back together

you can hook it up and it should work and just look at reprogramming the mileage later, just write down the original mileage to keep track of it

so just to clarify because i'm slooow...i write down the miles that are on there now...swap the old cluster for the new one, and it should be able to tell me how fast i'm going right? also, i can go for as long as i want like this, then if i decide to reprogram it later, they'll just add up my current mileage to the miles i wrote down before the swap?

btw, the MOST, not all, but most of the service guys i called at the dealerships were such A-holes about it...like, they were pissed because i couldn't install it myself or something. my fault for not being good with auto electronics. like i have the equipment to program an instrument cluster myself!

yea if you decide later to reprogram just add the mileage together and they will put that mileage on there.

everything will work fine youll just have zero miles. speedo, fuel, battery, oil, everything
