I replaced the bulb in my headlamp switch a few years ago(you CAN get the bulb). I replaced the stock radio with a nice Alpine around the same time, which also gave me an iPod cable connection, and a USB connection.
I'm still a little shocked that heater control heads aren't available from GM or aftermarket. It's just silly....

Hey Roger, if I can desolder/resolder the bulbs out/in, you can man...with all of the coffee that I drink I'm a pretty shaky dude and I managed to make it work
RadioShack not only has the bulbs that you need, but cool desoldering tools to make the process a snap
I have to replace the bulb in my recirc button myself, same deal, it goes off, I tap it and it goes back on. I did a bunch of bulbs in my unit a few years back and it went pretty quickly and smoothly.
