Default HID issue that is stumping me

Lets see if we can figure this out!!
I just installed a set of digital 55W 8K hids on my 03 silvy ss with a 145amp alternator.
for the life of me I can't get the damn lights to stop flickering. This is what ive done to try and combat the flickering
-Made a relay harness for a constant draw from the battery, and not the stock harness
-Soldered every connection ! the ballast
-Installed a 145amp alternator
- Tried multiple ground points
-Disabled the daytime runners

Ive noticed they only flicker after a couple of minutes of the truck running, when my electric fans kick on the flickering is much more tame and stops randomly.
Any help will be greatly appreciated, usually I dont post for help on anything from tuning to engine builds, but this one i cant freakin figure out!!!
TIA

Sounds like you got a bad ballast or bulb.

I thought that too, so before I hard wired everything I put the kit on my 2000 silvy with a k68 (105 amp) alternator and there was no issues so I'm figuring the kit is good and the problem lies in my ss, i don't have ud pulleys but it's got a 228/230 112 lsa cam idles at 675-725

Check all the grounds to your engine and battery. May even consider doing the "Big 3" mod which you can find on the forum.

I have found out that some vehicles just hate 55w ballasts. I had a customer switch out his DDM Tuning 55w kits on his new Impreza for a 35w kit from me.

Sometimes a relay harness will work (95% of the time it will work) and sometimes it doesn't.

what voltage are your ballasts rated for? I know some ballast have a very slim range of power like 10 volts-12 volts. Alot of the cheaper HID kits are like this. You will notice on the ballast on the more expensive kits they will have all the info printed on the ballast and they will be good from 9 volts- 16 volts like mine are rated at. Sounds like either your putting to much power into them or you have a bad ballast/bulb

I'm in the process of doing the big 3 right now. My grounds on the bulbs themselves are chasis grounded. My ballasts have a wide range of operable voltage. Well see what happens thanks for all the replies.
