Search on gmfullsize it's where you upgrade the wiring from i believe the battery to alt, the battery to ground and then the starter....or something like that I never did it, most people go crazy too and upgrade all the power/ground wires

1) alternator positive to battery positive
2) battery negative to chassis
3) engine ground to chassis

you already have the upgrade alt .so you should be good . i dont have much experience with 55 watt setups so i cant help you there but i can say if you do the big 3 please dont add cable just replace it all with bigger it will look way cleaner.

also make sure you use a fuseable link cable to the alt . you may need to use a couple strands as it can be hard to find in larger size's localy.

i have done this on my truck but what i did is when i had the motor out i took out the entire positive and negative cables out and made new ones relocating the battery and using better connections with soldier and some nice look stinger side post terminals. i went a little crazy on my setup and replaced all with 1/0 cable . way overkill but my truck has alot of electrical crap on it.

the 55 watt kits put out more power since the only difference is the ballast most all hid bulbs being sold today are rated for up to 60 watts so even the bulbs you get in the 35 watt kits can be powered by the larger 55 w ballast.

Ok gents I've tackled the stupid flickering. It was tough lol but I appreciate all the input. Here's what I did for the 55w 8k flicker problem.
- soldered every connection
-upgraded to a 145amp alternator
- grounded the bulbs to chasis
- wired in a relay straight to 12v
- larger gauge alt wire, batt neg, and engine to chasis ground (big 3)
-Spliced both ballasts into one 10 gauge wire power from the factory light switch and relay, power is sufficient.
thts about it and they run like I gave two suns int headlight housings. Again thanks for all the input

^ I was going to say the same thing. You probably could've hooked up a 35w kit and had no problems.

I have a set of 55w DDMs on my 2000 Silverado and have no problems at all. Have them in both my Hi/Lo Beams and even when theyre both on I have no flickering or any problems.

I had 55w HIDs in my 1999 that I removed from a 2009 silverado. one of the ballast got water in it so i ordered a new kit from DDM, since a new kit is cheaper then a ballast. I decided to go with 35w this time around.

I installed the new kit and nothing. Would not work at all. I was trying to figure out what what the reason was and it kept blowing the right side headlight fuse. i ran out of 15amp fuses and stuck a 30amp in. bad move, it melted about 12" of the right side harness.

I repaired the harness and just ordered a relay kit. hopefully that will fix my issue. Its wierd that the 55w kit worked fine for months and the 35w was melting wires.
