Default Hey Guys heres an Idea

I wonder if this has been thought of and if it could actually be done. A really cool GM feature that has been around a long time and still used on certain vehicals is the GM 'heads up display" What if a guru got a hold of one the old units and could reprogram it to be used for different things like a boost gauge or trans temps or airfuel.HOW THE HELL COOL WOULD THAT BE?

thanks

I was just thinking today that it would be BAD *** if you could get one that would display some of the tuning software screens, sorta like a projector on a wall. I hate having to look down at the laptop to see what's going on.

It can't be that hard to do. Some EE's I graduated with did it for thier senior design project. It was supposed to go on our FSAE car, but we didn't have time. If you're serious, sponsor a similar project for your own self gain and do a HUD for your laptop.

I'd like to see some one do the Caddy night vision HUD. That one should be easy, but I remember hearing you need a special windshield though. I know LPE was offering a conversion for H2's that was built by Raytheon, but I've never heard of anyone using it.

I found this link....I think its similar to what you guys are talking about. I'm sure there is someone that could tweak it to read other things besides RPM's

We did one on a show car years ago for a 7" lcd to display video. We used a material on the windshield much like the reflective mirror tint. IIRC, we had to use a monitor with mirror image switching to get the right / left correct. All you would need is one to hook to a laptop to display data. I will see if I can find pics.
