Fuel Pump Wiring Issues
#1
I have a mess I think. I ordered a Racetronix hot wire kit and installed it and have nothing now. My stock harness has 4 wires, a black, purple, gray, and orange with a black stripe on it. Can anyone tell me what these wires are? I think black is ground, and orange with black stripe is hot and the other two are for the fuel level. Not getting any help from racetronix. Any help would be great, need to get this figured out. Thanks

I just swapped in a Walbro 255, the pump wires are black and gray, and the fuel level wires were both purple. This is the wiring in the pump assembly, not in the connector from the truck to the top of pump assembly. Perhaps use a voltmeter to see which wire is getting 12V when the pump is supposed to switch on.

I have seen it when installing the Racetronix harness with the A340 pump, where the pump polarity needs reversed. Easy to fix though, just swap the main power & ground wires on the connector, at the pump.

Yea I tried switching polarity on the pump. Just need to know what the wires are that go to the top of the bucket. Thanks.

Finally got it figured out tonight. Racetronix had 6 of the 8 wires mixed around. They had power wire going to my fuel level and only one of the fuel level wires in the correct position, and the main ground wire was going to the ground side for the fuel level. Got it all done and works good now. Now I have to figure out why the speedometer is pegged when I turn the key on?? New transmission and zero miles on it. Any idea where the speed sensor is at on a 4l65e?? This truck is gonna drive me nuts!!
I have about 20 miles on the new rear end and need to get that broke in so I can play a little. Kinda afraid to, whats gonna break next!! Hopefully I can throw the small pulley on it and make some boost and burn a little rubber
