Default factory navigation for an 01

Can the 03 and up factory navigation units be used in a 2001 siverado. I can get one at a reasonable price and would really like to have one. If it can what all would i have to have to make it work?

First the opening is a different size, so some work is required to fit the larger unit in a 99-02 dash. Second, the 03+ trucks/suvs run everything through the radio so wiring would be a nightmare if even possible. Just get an aftermarket indash and do this

Way too much work, just go aftermarket. Simpler and cheaper.
