Default ECSB Speaker Help!

Ok heres the deal... i know ABSOLUTELY NOTHING about speakers and what sizes they are and amplifiers and **** like that lol. My factory speakers sound like **** and im looking to replace ALL of the ones that are not hard... I am mechanically inclined enough to take the door panels off to get to them so ive decided im gonna do it myself. All im looking for is what i should buy??

Brand?
Size?
Quantity?

It would be nice if they just sold like a kit that replaces your factory speakers with something a little more upgraded and has the exact amount and sizes you need as like a package deal for us electronically declined.

Its an 02' Extended Cab with factory CD player. Thanks

also check out crutchfield, they will tell what sizes all your speakers are and can tell you what size will fit, if you need modifications, it all there check it out.

you have 6.5" in the front and 5.25 in the back. Get something with a very low RMS if you don't plan to add an amp. If you're looking to go cheap, kicker's lower line is pretty good. Infinity makes great stuff too but at a steeper price.

I'm just into this project right now. So I got a full load of JBLs. They're nice and clear, and the price was right. In the doors, the big ones are 6.5", but 7" will fit fine. The little ones look like they're surplus headphone speakers, but I put 3.5 inchers in and spaced them away from the door panel, closer to the steel mesh. They don't rattle, I thought they would, just make sure you get them solid. I didn't check to see if they could be cut into the structural steel in the door, cause I thought they might interfere with the window function, and I like having that steel there in case I get tboned. In the back, the speakers above the armrest are some queer little 3x5s or something, but if you don't mind trimming some sheet metal, 5.25s sound great. They had to be spaced as well so the magnets have enough clearance from the body, but they sound great. There's plenty of room for them to still tuck behind the steel mesh. Just make sure you get them mounted solid. As for amps, I'm retarded as well. I think the 6.5s in the door should get an amp so the deck isn't taxed. Hope I helped!

Great info, id love to hear that... unfortunately i dont really trust myself with trimmin inside the doors so ill probably just stick with the stock sizes. You like the JBLs?

Thanks for the info fellas

If you dig through some of my old threads you will see what I did with mine... it sounds pretty nice. Just some Infinity speakers and an Alpine head unit... you have 4X6's in the rear doors of your ext cab bro...

Ahh sorry about that. It's been 3 years now since I tore into those. I know the fronts are 6.5 though.

another thing you might want to do a head unit first because the stock one doesnt push much wattage at all and its part of the sound problem
