Default Door speaker install in 2010 GMC

Today i installed door speakers in my 2010 GMC 1500 ext. cab.
In the front doors i placed Alpine Type-S 6.5" coax and in the rear doors i placed Type-S 5.25"
Took me about two hours for the hole job, door panels VERY easy to remove and install back.
Used the factory speaker mounts by cutting out the old speakers of the plastic.

If your looking for better stereo sound i would do it this way. Clearer and much more bass - not like a subwoofer but there is more sound.

Reason i used cheap Type-s Speakers is because i am using the factory HU to keep all of onstar. The Type-S line had a much "looser" suspension and a poly cone.

Recommend this change to anyone! Basic hand tools used.

Did it effect the sound quality? This sounds dumb, but I'm just curious.

I think it sounds better. Starts to get muggy at 3/4 volume and thats because the stock headunit is running out of power. But i am happy with it. Plenty loud enough.

Too bad that you didn't post up a picture tutorial on how to do this

Great setup for use with a factory headunit! If you ever decided to ditch onstar and go with an aftermarket head unit (some will still work with onstar but require add on modules) thoughs speakers will hold together well. My opinon but inside mods are just as important as performance mods. If your going to spend hours in your vehicle why not make it more enjoyable!

Was this setup with factory BOSE, or non-BOSE?

You can have OnStar with aftermarket HU with the PAC module
