Default Digital Designs Subs KICK ***!!!!!!!!

I just finnished building a box for behind the seat of my truck with just one 8" 1500 series sub from Digital Designs. All I can say is HOLY ****! It pounds harder than my ext cab did with 2 12" Kicker Comp VR's. My Blazer has a JL 12W3 and it doesnt even come close to this little thing. I thought the audio guy was full of **** when he said that little thing hits harder than most 12"s on the market. Sure the hell DOES! I tuned the box to just over 40hz so its great for both rap and rock. There website lists this thing as like 450rms, but the shop guy says he pushes 800rms to his. These things are insane!

Anyway, here is some pics of the tiny box.

Forgot to say, I drove back up to the audio shop to show the guy the box and all and he asked me why I didnt bridge my amp. I guess I forgot. Once I bridged it I could crank it and make my CD player skip. lol It shakes the **** out of everything.

DD is one of the best subs out there, everybody usually goes for the NAME BRAND subs, RR audio is good, RE audio, Eclipse, Orion all way better. They arent the best lookin subs, but they dont make them for looks, just performance. Those can take more that 1200wRMS easy!

The side fireing works great. I will get some pics later, but it would fit with ease behind the seat of a reg cab. The 15 ci port is facing out the other side. I tried out some of my old bass cd's and this thing gets low as hell with no probs at all. I'm only running about 500-550 rms to it right now, but its no where near being maxed out. With more power it would bang even harder. I may go for a single 10" to put in my yukon. With having the room to build a huge box and get the port tuning exact I bet that one would blow my 12w3 away.

DD subs are very nice. i have 1008 that i use as a temp sub and its just sealed with about 75 watts and it out performs most 12's sealed. i currently have a 9515 and that thing is insane. the 1500 and 500 series is the lowest from DD so you can imagine what the upper series are like. nice box also

DD's gave us the world championship in 99 for the Extreme 2 sub class in dB Drag Racing. We were running prototype quad coil 15"s with over 6,000WRMS per sub. They were great and alot of our "R&D" went into the sub that you currently have.

A little info on the subs: They can handle bursts of double the rating that DD gives (in root mean squared valuations). The cones are the weakest link and typically will fail around the surrounds (only at extreme power levels with HUGE vent area). The cone on the 10" is actually the dust cap of the 15 and 18" sub (last time I checked). The subs we used lasted for like 4 burps before tearing. We ran the first Kevlar cones that DD made when we went to dual 18's in 2000. Ready for this,...each 18" sub had 18 cubic feet of airspace and 350 square inches of port area (tuned to 42Hz) and weighed in at 100#'s. Our documented official highest SPL using the 2 18's was 170.8

DD manufactures alot of the components for some of the best drivers around. DD makes the basket and motor structure for the famous MMATS Juggernaut.

BTW, if you ever happen to talk to a guy named Jess (part owner of the company), tell him that Team Hertz says hello. I kind of miss competing in dB Drag...

I dont have a table saw either so all my cuts were eyeballed with a craftsman cordless skillsaw. lol I think all the cuts actually came out pretty strait and right on the measurement.
