Default Dash/Radio Lights wont Dim when Headlights come on??

well i have a 03 tahoe lt, iv owned 3 others chevys besides this and all of them do this except for this tahoe. When my head lights would come on the dashboard and radio lights would automaticly dim, and when the head lights would go off, say cuz it got brighter outside, the lights on the dash and radio would go back to normal. But for some reason these dont do that, i have to manuly turn them down, what gives????

are you turning it off by the switch? do you have the fog lights on?

if it's daylight out, and you start the truck in daylight you shouldn't be seeing what you describe.

the 2003+ trucks turn on the parking lights and coresponding instrument lights when fog lights are turned on, despite the status of the remainder of the headlight system.

if the light sensor determines low light conditions and activates the auto headlights then there is nothing that you can do to turn off the dash lights (except turn the dimmer all the way down).

when this happens, what color is the status indicator next to the headlight switch???

ok, I had it backwards.... are the instrument cluster lighting at all? have you turned the dimmer wheel down some? the odometer and radio are a good bit brighter than the dash lights, but they do dim some with the dimmer wheel
