Question Chevy ECSB Sub Box

Anyone have enclosure plans for either 10" or 12" subs mounted under the rear seat of 99-06 Silverado Extended Cabs?

Have heard about a lift kit for the rear bench seat to give maybe 1-2" of extra space for a slightly larger box. Any ideas??

Thanks!!

you can add some washers with the bolts to raise the seat up some. I'm in the middle of building two separate 10" boxes but i wont need to raise the seat any. How much air space you needing?

I had a box with 2 memphis 12" subs mounted under there and it fit perfectly. Just go to the right audio shop instead of best buy or something.

Not saying that I have to raise the seat, but if I needed to....

I should be fine with about .8 to 1.0 ft3. Currently running JL12W0 subs w/alpine m350 but may upgrade both when the money is there. I've seen boxes for sale claiming .92 of space without seat mods, But would like to build my own.

you definantly don't need to raise the rear seat to put in w0's. You can fit a box with over a 7" mounting depth under the rear seat without altering it.

x2 ... and you can mount your amp on the back wall, there's a way to modify the back bench seat so that the back folds down...i believe its a sticky on this or another silverado forum. As far as air space is concerned, if you need .8-1 ft^3 per sub, it might be difficult with 3/4" MDF but if that is all you need total, you can easily build two, separate, basic rectangular boxes to avoid any hardship of building flush with the middle hump. I will be getting about .7-.75 ft^3 / sub with 3/4" MDF

I think I may just purchase a prefab. Atrend makes a dual 12" box for about $125. Sounds reasonable, unless anyone knows about any issues with Atrend??

Have been trying to find the sticky, or any thread for that matter, with instructions on a way to modify the back bench seat so that it folds down.

Could really use help on finding it!!!

This box covers the entire rear seat and I think I will have to mount the amp behind the seat.

Thanks!!

Remove Seat, then Cut the Tabs down a bit...

Yellow line shows where to cut...

Then, Reinstall and see if it works... If not, cut a bit more off... Do it to both tabs...

Thanks for the reply, good pic!
Now if I understand this right, there is nothing holding the seat back anymore. Is this even safe?? I've got 2 kids (1 infant) riding in the back.
Was hoping there was a mod where I could lock and unlock the rear seat.
