Default Anyone running a Valentine1?

Just curious how you like it. Also, please post pics if you have any, if I do one I'd want it to be clean (e.g., mount it high, and get all the wires tucked up in the headliner/windshield gap...I *hate* wires).

Just saw a guy get popped for 65 in a 55 today. Oregon has ridiculously low speed limits, and I may be doing a fair number of Portland-Los Angeles runs this year.

I haven't used the Valentine unit, but I ran into a website a while back that an ex cop did some independant test on different units and I don't think the Valentine did all that well. I belive the Escorts were a pretty clear standout for giving the most warning and you can get cordless version of the Escort. I think the Bell's where decent as well. The Valentine sounds neet in that it is suppose to tell you where the radar is coming from, but I don't think they are all that great for the earliest warning.

The best thing would probably be to get a full hidden unit where the sensor acutally mounts in the front of the vehicle behind the grille. They tend to be expensive tho.

i have a valetntine1 and it has paid for itself a few times . i have picked up chp from over 1 1/2 miles away possibly 2. the arrows work good so your not wondering where to look for the smokey. it will also tell you the number of a certain radar it is detecting. here in ca Ka is about the only thing used for radar , so you know what to look for. knock on wood but i have had mine for almost 2 years and havent got picked off yet. i take it on all my long distance trips. i dont have experience with anythign else but im very happy with my V1. here is a pic, mine is hardwired through my healdiner to my dash . i used the rear view mirror to hide the wiring.

Have a V1 now. I had a Passport 7500, but after 2 tickets, it went on ebay. The V1 gives you so much time that you don't need to brake, you can just let off the gas and coast down to the speed limit. No tickets, no real scares either (except for one "instant-on"fright, but no detector can pick those up). I don't know how I lived without the arrows either, if the arrow points behind me, I just keep my foot in it and watch the rearview. Worth every penny.

I have it installed above my mirror on the left, hardwired. Don't have any pics though. But great investment, and when you are done with it, you can sell it on ebay for at least $300, so just tell yourself you are renting it for $100.

Yep V1 here. Same pic as 2004SSS, minus the badass truck. My V1 has made me money. I mean that it has paid for itself times 10. I got pulled over twice for speeding with it. One with instant on radar. A half a mile away it gave me a strong chirp. When I popped the hill it turns out that chirp was someone else getting "triggered". The cop "triggered" me, I hit the brakes and he wrote me a warning for no front license plate. I was able to slow down enough to only get a warning. (I never have a front plate for this very reason, gotta give him something to write a ticket for). The second time was lasor. And I have blockers now and they have paid for themselves times 10 as well.

http://www.escortradar.com/srx.htm kinda like that... a laser jammer basically... completely legal. the FCC can only make rules about blocking radar... you can still find some radar blockers but its not needed as much... most of the time you get a fair enoguh warning from a cop using radar. now the laser jammer is bad *** and i want one...

nothing too james bond about it. Blinder M20 is the newer technology product. I have an older model. The m20 I believe only does the front and the M40 does front and rear. Google Blinder M20. Should be lots of info on it. I don't care who says it doesn't work...it works.

Here's an article on edmunds about. Lots of articles on this stuff, I particularly like this one.

Near the end of the article is the laser stuff. Good info. ***** Laser.

I have the Valintine 1 also. I have it mounted above the mirror with the wiring hidden up through the mirror wiring channel into the headliner and down the A-pillar. Sorry no pictures too freaking cold. I like the V1 for the reasons listed above plus you can send it back to get the software updated when newer versions become available (not free but cheaper than buying a new unit).
