Alternator?
#1
I got a 01 Z71 with 2 comp 12's, Alpine 500, Apline radio, L.E.D's bulbs in the interior, and 6k HID's. I've noticed my bulbs and everything dim when my system hits and ive been meaning to get a new alternator anyway so what brand or size would you guys recommend? I found a BNR parts ecxperts 200 amp alternator for about $150, is that a good size and brand? ill be getting Efans, 2 cvr 12's, 1000w amp in the future too

Google "big 3 upgrade" and you'll get all your info. It's a simple underhood wiring upgrade to make sure you get the most out of your charging system.
As far as aftermarket alternators....I run a DC Power 250 amp which is one of the top brands out there...they're way over 150 bucks though. lol

Doing the upgrade, would that pull more power and say I run my system with the truck off will it drain the battery even faster? Ill have to look into that Alternator, id like a 200 or possibly bigger

Haven't purchased from this company, but I've heard good things about their units and only a couple of negatives.

Do the big 3 first with 0/1 wire. Get welding lead and some crimp on terminals and knock it out first. I'm guessing you're adding up your current draw from the amps which is fine but the only time you'll get close to that is on transient passages...it's not a constant draw. My 2 amps "can" draw 300 amps but it's rare...I have zero light dimming at night with everything in the truck running with a 250 amp alternator...who knows what the truck is drawing all by itself.
Get the wiring right THEN ad an alternator if you really need it. Chances are you don't.
