Default Aftermarket DVD/Nav. deck throwing "service brake light"?

Does anyone know if a aftermarket DVD/Nav. deck can cause the "service brake light" to come on if you don't hook up the wire that keeps you from watching movies when you're driving. Vehicle is an 03 Chevy not sure what kind of deck. Thanks.

If its not hooked up it has no way of causing anything like that.. prob should check to see if you have a burnt out brake light

I didn't think it could either. This is on a friends truck and he said the light came on and he took it to get the brakes checked and was told it was fine, then the guys at best buy told him the deck could cause the light to come on.
