A guy at work gave me a cd/radio to install in my 85 c10. I've never installed an aftermarket radio in any vehicle before. It looks like there is no way this will fit. Could some steer me in the right direction? Where to start and what I might need.

is the radio smaller than the hole opening or bigger? i cant see pics at work just incase you posted them...

 

Carefully place the radio cage over the opening on the plastic dash panel center it left and right over the original radio opening. Scribe the area where the cage sits then use a dremel or cutting tool of your choice to cut the opening. Then file the opening until the cage will slip into the opening but not through it. You have to be careful or the bezel is junk. Remount the bezel in the truck then scribe the metal of the dash through the opening you just cut in the plastic bezel then remove the bezel so you can cut the metal part of the dash. Again use air saw cutoff wheel etc and whack the metal out of the way. Reinstall bezel slip radio cage through the opening expand the ears of the cage to hold the radio tightly in the dash slip the radio in and wire it up as necessary.

So, I have to cut plastic piece and the metal. That sucks. I thought this was going to be a little easier. LOL

 

10-4 no way around it. Damm not many of those trucks have survived this long with the stocker dual shaft tape decks in them.
