Default after market nav/dvd head unit for the trucks?

my truck came with a nice sounding stereo. infinity speakers, duel 12's under the back seat and some big *** amp back there too. i dont know much about this stuff.

the head unit seems to have died on me. i checked the switched power and the constant power and the ground and messed around for awhile. might be time to just buy a new head unit. there are 3 pairs of rca jacks going to the back of the truck.

do they make an in dash touch screen nav/dvd set up that will fit right in the factory space? who is running what and how is it working?

the 01 silverado and tahoe will have 1.5 din size so you will have to get a dash kit and a single din flip screen dvd/nav head unit. you can pretty much find them from any namebrand (Alpine, Pioneer, Kenwood, etc.) and they normally start around $800 in an audio shop and go up from there. you can probably find some better deals online though..... here is an example

Hey Parish this isn't the best picture but its just an option that you could go for because I am not sure if you have a full console in your truck or not.

That is a 7 inch flush mounted TV in the space that the tape player and that flip up compartment are in. You could do the same thing with a Double Din Nav system.

which vehicle is this going in? the dash for the 03+ accepts a double DIN radio, check out Pioneer's offering, they have a touchscreen nav unit, I believe the newest version plays DVDs also, but check the info.

nope, take the piece out and the pockets out, mark with a sharpie and go to town with the dremel....and hope the ring around the screen covers up not so perfect cuts....

like i said earlier an 01 will have the 1.5 din and will have to be a single din flip screen with dash kit to take up the extra space (unless of course your going to put it in the console).

Here's a thread about making an 03 and up bezel fit in a 99-02 for use with a double din head unit: https://www.performancetrucks.net/fo...d.php?t=373493

I've read that people seem to like the Pioneer AVIC? units with navigation...

It doesn't take a lot of work, just some cutting. I don't know if you can do the same thing with the dash but I like the way I did mine because it still allows you to get rid of that useless space there and add something that looks cool.

MSRP $1000, but they're $650-$800. I plan on getting one in the near future.
