Had a reputable stereo shop install a sub, amp and crossover on my 2012 Silverado with Bose. No other changes and now a check engine light that can't be turned off. code is for cooling fan # 2. Returned to the shop and they rerouted the ign on source and tried everything but no luck.... Anyone go through this? Can't believe its a coincidence, something happened in the install.

Did they run he wire through the main grommet going from the cab into the engine compartment? If so, did they run it through the same opening as the wire, or did they make their own opening somewhere on the side of the grommet? Where did they catch ignition? I honestly don't see how the install itself could have made your SES light come on unless something was done improperly. I've done tons of NNBS trucks for amplifiers, and never had a mishap like this.

After rerouting did you have the code cleared and it came back on? or didn't clear it?

no, it was cleared a couple of times but it comes back. Should find out this Fri, have an appointment at the dealership. I think the installer was probing wires looking for an ign on power source and grounded something, but why it won't clear is strange, some think it might need a GM scanner to do it.

OK, Dealer fixed it. Seems the underhood fuse block was damaged when the stereo shop shorted it. Why it was damaged and not just popped a fuse is unknown, dealer did say they have replaced quite a few in these late model trucks.....so HEADS UP ! Oh, 350. bucks and the shop payed.

if they have had to do this a few times you would think they would be smart enough to stop doing it. they are probably probing the wrong side of the fuse.
