add aux input to stock chevy radio
#1
this is a step by step guide on how to add auxiliary input to a stock chevy radio on a 2006 Silverado HD 6.6 duramax (radio has xm receiver)

xm receiver is located behind glove box, push inwards to allow stop to go past open position (red arrow)

to remove harness from receiver you going to need to use two index fingers to push down/up (red arrows) and outwards (green arrow) at the same time on blue tab

before harness can be removed from receiver you need to push black tab toward you (blue tab has been pulled out already) then just pull out completely.

this photo shows the stereo cable I used for this project (radio shack about 10 dlls)

this photo shows the stereo cable connected to the xm harness, also look at ground point (black arrow)
make sure you solder your connections to ensure good-long lasting contact
my stereo cable had three wires green, red (left/right channels) and black (ground) and was 6 ft long
I do get some interference, but only when my iphone 5 is charging, once I unplug charger interference stops completely and I do not know if this it might be due to how close the charging/headphones ports are on this particular model (iphone 5) but not a big deal like I stated above once unplugged its all good.
drop me a line if you need more information on this matter
thanks
Sergio.

if you use the right 1/8th inch stereo jack from radio shack you can wire it inline. when the your not using it, it will play xm. when you insert your 1/8" jack it will break the xm contacts and make the contacts for the your iphone or what ever your using. I did this to my tahoe 3-4 years ago. made it look stock mine is mounted on my radio face plate and wired into the xm input right on the back of the head unit.

the write up on this has been on ls1tech for a very long time. the older camaro guys do the same thing but use the cd player input to the main board inside the head unit itself.
