Question 95 GMC SIERRA brake light problems

im having trouble from my brake lights/turn signal on my '95 GMC sierra.

i have no turn/brake light on my passenger side .the front signal works but flashes fast. i pulled the light out of the rear and tested the plug. everything works except the black wire which is for the brake light. only thing is the turn signal works on the rear plug but when its plugged into the light housing it dosent (but it flashes fast when tested at the plug)

i know they brake light wire and rear turn signal wires are tied together in someway , but where and how ??? could this be a bad relay somewhere ???

check your brake light switch. Also, I have seen a time when the turn signal switch (the actual switch and harness that goes down the steering column) was out and causing the same problem.

Default lights

well see everything works fine but the rear pass. side tail lamp. it shouldnt be a pedal switch should it ??since the driverside works fine. everything works fine in the plug but the black wire which from what i figure is for the brake. the running /backup/turn work (in the plug) but not when its plugged into the lamp itself only the backup and running lights work (which i know its fine also. I already relaced it to ) i checked the plug behind the trailer hitch and the black wire is dead there also. could a relay going bad cause this problem or would it cause both brake lights to quit at the same time.

the signal switch isnt tied to the brake lights is it ????

any ideas on where to check next???

half the switch can be out while the other half is working fine, however, this sounds more like a turn signal switch asembly since the turn signal is not working as well. There is really no way to check the turn signal switch short o pulling the steering wheel and pulling it out and pluggin a new one in to see if that fixed it or not.

Default brake lights

but see thats the thing the turn signal still works. just it doesnt work when its plugged into the lamp housing. it flashes in the plug when i use my test light. the only wire that dosent work w/ the test light is the black wire. the brake light works on the driver side just not on the pass. side. how many wires come out of the brake switch???? how is the brake /turn tied together for the rear lamps,or is it tied together in the housing which holds the bulbs. any1 know where the wire for the pass. side brake light comes off of the computer so i can check there to see if im getting anything. i dont think its the turn signal stalk cause it been replaced not to long ago for the CC not working.
